About the museum
What makes Genemuiden what it is? At the museum, discover the stories behind four themes that have shaped the town for generations: Connected, Resilient, Enterprising and Distinctive. From major events to everyday customs, from the past to the present. Look around, make connections and find out where the local Gællemuniger mentality comes from.
Why are things the way they are here? At Stadsmuseum Genemuiden, discover how history, faith, enterprise and community have shaped the town and its people. See not only what happened, but above all how it affected Genemuiden. How people adapted to change, seized opportunities and kept finding ways to move forward. Stories from the past reveal the roots of today’s mentality.
That mentality is still recognisable in Genemuiden: enterprising, resilient, connected and distinctive. It is reflected in how people live together, work, practise their faith and continue to find their own way.
For people from Genemuiden, there is much to recognise and even more to discover. Visiting from elsewhere? Get to know the town and its people from the inside.
